Kicking off Christmas Sessions

We’re just two days shy of December. Almost everyone can probably agree that it’s one of the busiest months of the year. We’re about to go under a wave of Christmas-eveything. Possibly my favorite part of this season though should be of no surprise—it’s the holiday sessions! The home is all decorated, the tree is up and glowing, and everyone is matching in hues of green and red.

Now let’s get to this lovely family and their holiday session. It was a afternoon of a sunny day (oh California, how I love you so) when I arrived to the newly moved in house of Mark, Tanya, Jonah, Levi, and a babe on the way. I knew Tanya was almost near the end of her pregnancy but what I didn’t expect is her telling me “yeah so I think my water broke this morning” as she greeted me at her door—thus making this session probably the quickest I’ve ever done from fear of the baby arriving right there and then.

It was so incredibly fun to photograph this good looking family because they were absolute naturals. The eldest, Jonah (4 years old), was literally putting himself in poses and say “how about this? Take the picture” I mean…he did my work for me. I’ve known Tanya since what felt like yesterday but it was before she was even married. I’ve photographed Levi as a newborn and hopefully now that they live 5 minutes away from me, I’ll sneak over to capture some snaps of the newest addition that will join us any day now! Until then, here’s to making it through this busy but joyous upcoming season and not forgetting what it’s about, the birth of Jesus Christ.
